Filling the Gap with Workers Over 50

With people living longer and being in generally better shape in their golden years than their parents and grandparents were, people over age 50 represent a major talent pool for the IT industry.

According to the Urban Institute, only 12.9 percent of adults ages 65 and older have a job. With high demand for IT and digital talent, employers can make it easy for the aging population to reskill and have a new career path.  

“The pandemic led to a huge number of Americans choosing to retire early,” said Tom Strong, director of employer activation for the National Fund for Workforce Solutions, a workforce development organization in Washington, D.C.

Tech to Counteract COVID-19-Related Stress

As the pandemic continues to disrupt the labor market and employees struggle with COVID-19-related stress, anxiety and depression, Kimberly Miller is turning to a mental wellness tool that she says helps many of her company’s 4,000 employees improve their mental well-being.

Miller is global chief experience officer at Initiative, a communications agency headquartered in New York City with 90 offices worldwide.

During the last 18 months, Miller has spent her time protecting employees’ jobs while trying to create a better experience in a remote-work environment.

Calabria Group is looking for an Advertising Copywriter who has agency experience and works in tandem with an Art Director partner to bring ideas, concepts and digital/social media campaigns to life. You should have concrete experience in social-first executions – both organic and paid, static and motion, paid display and show ability to stretch into other mediums. Your job is to bring a unique point of view to advertising that spans audiences, platforms and countries. Your work will bring the company’s brand, products and services to life and empower entrepreneurs, while also driving revenue.

Responsibilities include leading, developing and guiding the messaging for integrated campaigns, proficiency writing quickly and with a high level of success, and developing a thorough understanding the company’s user needs and how they differ to create solutions for teams across the organization .
